ABOUT MENEL HÜZMELI

Born in 1979 in Antakya, the artist lived in North African countries until the age of 8 due to her family's work. 


With the sense of curiosity of living in multicultural countries, she started to work with stones, ceramics and pieces of wood that she collected around without knowing the existence of mosaic art at the age of 10.

 
At the age of 11, she was fascinated by a mosaic artifact she saw on the ground during a trip with her grandmother and took a break in the workshop of Antakya's first mosaic master. For many years, he stayed in the workshop with his master and tried to learn the intricacies of mosaic art.

 

In the 1st century AD, Antioch was the third largest city in the Roman Empire in terms of area and population, and the 4th largest in the world after Rome, Alexandria and Ctesiphon.  He established his workshop in Epifania, one of the four neighborhoods of Antioch and the largest trade area.  Apart from classical mosaics, he trained many students and apprentices in the Epiphany neighborhood, the birthplace of 3D mosaics. Apart from classical mosaics, he designed the designs of 3D mosaics in this old Roman building. Especially THREE-DIMENSIONAL MOZAIK He announced his name to the masses with his works. 


After a while, his works reached all over Turkey and the world.

 

He participated in various exhibitions in Istanbul, Izmir, Mersin, Antakya, Saudi Arabia Riyadh, Ankara, Dubai and Qatar. He worked mosaic in architectural structures such as hotels, restaurants, spas, mansions, gardens etc.  Since his very young age, he realized 21 exhibitions, 6 of which were personal and 15 of which were group exhibitions. 

She organized intensive workshops.  She organized workshops for primary school and high school children, father and child activities, workshops for disabled people, orphanage workshops, and purple women's solidarity workshops.

 

500.000 pieces of THREE-DIMENSIONAL MOZAIC WORK titled The Gift of Heaven - The Olive Tree made a great impact in the country and abroad. It was on the agenda of the national press. 

 

After the earthquake in Antakya, he settled in the Selçuk district of Ephesus in Izmir. He continues his mosaic works, student trainings and designs of three-dimensional mosaic works in his workshop in Ephesus.
